In WordPress admin, open WooCommerce → Settings → Payments. Choose an available payment provider, enable it and complete its setup. Available providers and methods depend on your store’s country and the installed extensions.

Choose and configure a provider

Compare the provider’s current fees, supported countries and features with your store’s requirements. Install its official extension if needed, then use Enable or Manage in the payment settings to complete account setup. Follow that provider’s documentation for account connection and credentials; do not expose secret keys in screenshots or shared logs.

Test checkout before accepting real payments

Use a staging store or the provider’s documented test mode. Test mode and live mode are different: a normal live checkout can charge a real payment method.

  1. Enable the provider’s test mode or use its supported test account.
  2. Add a test product to the cart and complete checkout with the provider’s documented test payment details.
  3. Check the resulting order, payment status and expected customer notifications.
  4. Test relevant failure cases using the provider’s instructions, then confirm the intended mode before launch.

For WooPayments specifically, Payments → Settings contains the test-mode control. Other gateways have their own settings. Test orders may trigger emails and appear in reports, so use test recipient details that you control.
