Are you tired of Snapchat’s AI constantly monitoring your every move? Do you feel like your every action is being analyzed and used to target you with ads? I know I did, which is why I decided to take matters into my own hands and remove Snapchat’s AI from my device. In this article, I’ll share with you the steps I took to regain my privacy and put a stop to Snapchat’s intrusive AI.
Step 1: Disable Snapchat’s AI Permissions
The first thing I did was go into my device settings and disable Snapchat’s access to the AI features. On my iPhone, I went to Settings, then Privacy, and selected Camera. From there, I found Snapchat on the list of apps and toggled off the option for it to access the camera. This effectively disables Snapchat’s ability to utilize the AI technology.
Step 2: Opt out of personalized ads
Next, I wanted to make sure that Snapchat wouldn’t continue to target me with personalized ads based on my previous interactions. To do this, I went to Snapchat’s settings within the app. I tapped on my profile icon, then the settings icon, and selected “Privacy” from the menu.
Within the Privacy settings, I found the option for “Ad Preferences” and tapped on it. From there, I turned off the toggle switch for “Personalized Ads.” This ensures that Snapchat won’t use the data collected by its AI to tailor advertisements specifically to me.
Step 3: Clear app cache and data
To further remove any traces of Snapchat’s AI from my device, I decided to clear the app’s cache and data. This can be done by going to the device settings and selecting “Apps” or “Applications.” From there, I found Snapchat on the list of installed apps and tapped on it.
Within the Snapchat app settings, I selected the option to “Clear Cache” and “Clear Data.” This removes any temporary files or data that may have been stored on my device, including AI-related data.
Step 4: Disable Auto Updates
In order to prevent Snapchat from automatically updating and potentially re-enabling its AI features, I made sure to disable auto-updates for the app. On my iPhone, I went to the App Store, then tapped on my profile icon in the top-right corner. From there, I selected “Settings” and toggled off the option for “App Updates.”
By disabling auto-updates, I have control over when and if I want to update Snapchat, allowing me to stay on a version that doesn’t have the AI features enabled.
Conclusion
Removing Snapchat’s AI from my device was a liberating experience. Not only do I feel like I have regained my privacy, but I also no longer have to worry about being targeted with ads based on my every move. By following the steps outlined in this article, you too can take control of your Snapchat experience and enjoy a more private and personalized app usage.
